The Hamilton Real Estate Group March 31, 2026
April is a fantastic month in the Coachella Valley. The energy shifts as many of our snowbirds make their way home and the big music festivals bring in a more diverse crowd. This year we've got two weekends of Coachella, Desert Rodeo making its return to Thermal, Broadway coming to McCallum, architecture tours of one of the most remarkable homes ever built, and a Firebirds team with something to prove. It's a lot, so take a look at what's happening and find your April.
The grandest spectacle in American festival culture returns to the Empire Polo Club in Indio for its 25th edition, and the lineup is nothing short of electric. Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, Karol G, Anyma, The xx, The Strokes, and Big Bang headline six stages of music, art installations, and pure desert magic spread across two unforgettable weekends. Whether you're camping beneath the stars or driving in for a single day, Coachella is a cultural experience that has to be lived — not just watched.

Country music's biggest party returns to Indio the weekend after Coachella, and this year's lineup is a boot-stomping dream. Headliners Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson, and Post Malone top a stacked bill that also features Journey, Brooks & Dunn, Hootie & the Blowfish, Little Big Town, Counting Crows, and Wynonna Judd — plus late-night sets from Pitbull, Diplo, and Ludacris on the Mustang Stage. For four glorious days, the polo fields transform into the greatest honky-tonk on earth.

Coming back for its second year, Desert Rodeo is one of the most original events to hit the Coachella Valley in years. It features world-class PRCA bull riders, barrel racers, and team ropers competing against a backdrop of mountain views at the Desert International Horse Park in Thermal — all wrapped in a full festival atmosphere of live music, artisan vendors, Western brands, and family-friendly fun. It opens with a skydiving flag descent and the Cowboy's Prayer. There is no better way to spend a Stagecoach weekend afternoon.

A brand-new event arrives this April, celebrating two of the great American obsessions: beautiful cars and vintage guitars. Taking place daily from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. in the heart of Downtown Indio, the show brings together rare and collectible guitars from dealers including Bay Area Vintage Guitars, Blasto Boy Guitars, and Gary Gand alongside stunning automobiles. It's a treasure hunt and a car show and a music nerd's paradise rolled into one desert weekend.

The Firebirds are chasing another trip to the Calder Cup playoffs, and April is when it counts. Catch the home playoff push at Acrisure Arena — one of the loudest and most electric atmospheres in all of AHL hockey. April home games include April 1 vs. Ontario Reign, April 8 vs. Henderson Silver Knights (Autism Acceptance Night), April 11 vs. Ontario Reign (Country Night), and April 19 vs. Abbotsford Canucks (Fan Appreciation Night). Playoff hockey in the desert — it doesn't get more fun.

Now in its 16th year, the Desert Arc Golf Classic is one of the valley's most beloved charity events — a day of competitive golf at Eagle Falls Golf Course at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino that raises vital funds for the 700+ adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities served by Desert Arc. Whether you're a golfer looking for a great round with a great cause, or a sponsor wanting to invest in your community, this is a day worth being part of.

Perched high in the San Jacinto foothills with sweeping views of the valley below, Albert Frey's 800-square-foot personal masterpiece is one of the most extraordinary homes ever built. Managed by the Palm Springs Art Museum, these rare Saturday tours shuttle visitors up to a house where a giant boulder forms part of the living room wall and every material was chosen to be in harmony with the desert. Your ticket also includes admission to the museum. Book early; these tours fill fast.

If you haven't been to The Rock Gallery yet, April is a good time to fix that. Tucked into downtown Palm Springs, this intimate 21+ club runs comedy six to seven nights a week — a mix of touring headliners and free open mic nights that punch well above what you'd expect from a room this size. This month's headliners include Janesh Rahlan (Apr 4), Rona Kremer (Apr 7), Zane Helberg (Apr 10), Brenda Pontiff (Apr 11), Nick Aragon (Apr 14), Richard Weiss (Apr 17), Billy Myers (Apr 24), and Renée Percy (Apr 25). Free open mic nights fill in the rest of the calendar.

Each year on the Saturday closest to April 15, the City of Palm Springs transforms Downtown Park into a free, four-hour celebration of creativity, community, and artistic expression, the World Art Day Festival. The festival features captivating art displays, interactive activities, and live performances for all ages, with local students showcasing their work alongside Coachella Valley artists and up-and-coming performers taking the stage. It's free, it's fun, and it's a beautiful reminder of how rich and vibrant our desert arts community truly is.
