August in the Coachella Valley: Pool Parties, Dark Skies, and Big Ideas

The Hamilton Real Estate Group July 30, 2026

August in the Coachella Valley moves at its own pace. The days call for water: pools, splash parties, resort life. The nights open up for live music, comedy, cycling, and conversation. It's the kind of month where an early morning or a late night makes more sense than the middle of the day. It's a quieter stretch on the calendar, but there's still plenty worth stepping out for.

DESERT HIGHLIGHTS

Splash House: Aug 07–09 & 14–16

Splash House takes over three Palm Springs resorts for its annual two-weekend run, turning hotel pools into daytime dance floors. Weekend one is led by a set from Kenny Beats, along with a rare DJ turn from Foster the People. Weekend two brings Alison Wonderland and Tiga. After dark, the party shifts to the Palm Springs Air Museum, where The Chainsmokers headline among the historic aircraft.

Tour de Big Bear: Jul 31–Aug 02

Southern California's favorite cycling weekend climbs the mountain to Big Bear Lake, with road, gravel, and mountain bike routes for riders of every level, plus a free Family Fun Ride and an after-dark Glow Ride through town. The weekend hub at Bear Mountain Resort rounds things out with the Cycling Expo, live music, and a beer garden.

Night Swim Saturdays: Every Saturday

The Palm Springs Surf Club opens its Island Pool and lazy river for an after-hours swim every Saturday night through the summer, 6 to 10 p.m., with a live DJ and cocktails at the Island Bar. It's 21 and over, and a good way to cool off after a hot August day.
